From 1st of September 2024, the decision-making authority in most matters concerning immigration will be transferred to the Immigration office in the Faroe Islands.

Schengen visa

The process time for a Schengen visa is 15-45 days.

 

To apply for Schengen visa you need to go to the police station in Tórshavn or Tvøroyri and bring:

  • A completely filled application form (Guidance for the Schengen visa form) and submit it along with
  • Passport
  • Residence card (if you don't have the card, you need to bring your residence permit)
  • Tickets
  • Insurance (if you travel to other Schengen countries besides Denmark) and
  • Hotel bookings (if you are staying at a hotel).

 

From the 1st of May 2024 there will be changes in the opening hours for submitting Schengen visa.

 

Visa applications can only be submitted between 10 and 14 weekdays. Tuesday and Thursday between 12 and 14.

 

 

Steðgur stytri enn 3 mánaðir (turistvisum)

Tá útlendingur kemur til Føroya og steðgar stytri enn 3 mánaðir, skal hann, tá hann kemur til landið, vísa galdandi ferðaprógv og hava neyðugt gjaldføri til uppihald og heimferð.

Pass

Norðurlendskir ríkisborgarar skulu ikki vísa pass.
Aðrir útlendingar skulu vísa galdandi pass.
Útlendingar úr londum, har visum krevst, skulu hava visum galdandi fyri Føroyar í upp til 3 mánaðir, ella uppihaldsloyvi.
